Yawning kitty

Hello!

Today I want to show you my first postcard from Belarus. It shows a cute yawning kitty into a beach bucket. This card made me smile with tenderness. I don't know if the cat was put there for the photo, but as a cat owner i know how much they love getting inside things and i have many memories of my kitties playing inside empty flowerpots.

The postcard came with three beautiful stamps. One from Bird Life International with an Eurasian curlew, a bird that breeds across Europe and Asia. It's easily recognizable by its shape, with a large curved beak and by its beautiful chirp.
The other two stamps have flower illustrations, garden tulips and narcissus.

Thank you very much, Irina!

Matryoshka dolls

Hello!

Today I want to show you a postcard with matryoshka dolls that came from Russia. I loved it so much because matryoshkas bring me rememberings of my childhood. My mother had one set of dolls and I loved playing with them.

A matryoshka is a set of traditional russian dolls. They are made of wood, have different sizes and they are hollow inside, so each doll you open you find a smaller one inside it. Matryoshka sets use to have a minimum os 5 dolls, they can have more pieces but always odd numbered. The most common set represents a woman dressed in a traditional russian dress, but you can also find other representations, as the animals or Father Christmas you can see in the postcard, russian politicians, celebrities and even movie or tv show inspired ones. The largest known matryoshka set goes up to 75 dolls!

The postcard came with six stamps, two from Moscow Kremlin and four with a hare.

Thank you very much, Egor!

Komodo dragon

Hello!

Today I want to show you a postcard that came from Indonesia with a gorgeous Komodo dragon.

Komodo National Park was declared a UNESCO WHS in 1991. It includes the islands of Komodo, Padar and Rinka and 26 smaller islands. It's original purpose was to protect the Komodo Dragon, the world's largest lizard, and nowadays it protects the biodiversity of the area.
Komodo dragons can grow to a maximum length of 3 meters, weigh around 70 kg and their life expectancy is around 30 years. They are a survivor species of very large lizards that once lived in Indonesia and Australia. They are carnivorous and venomous, and as a result of their size, they dominate the ecosystems in which they live.
Komodo dragons are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and protected under indonesian law. Komodo National Park was founded to help their protection.

The stamps were awesome too, pictures of indonesian animals and plants. One with the Malayan bear and and a Titan arum, a plant with the largest flowers in the world. The second one with a Twelve-wired bird of paradise and a Pometia pinnata, a tropical fruit tree. And the last one with a Blue crowned hanging parrot and an Oncosperma tigillarium, a palm tree species.

Thank you very much, Shinta!

Wadden Sea National Park

Hello!

Today i want to show you a postcard i received this week. It's from Germany and it shows Wadden Sea National Park's beautiful landscapes, animals and plants.

Located along the coast of three different countries (Denmark, Germany and The Netherlands), Wadden Sea's National Parks have the purpose of  protecting the unique ecology of the area. German and dutch areas of the Wadden Sea have been part of UNESCO WHS since 2009, and the danish one was included in 2014. Wadden Sea is well known for his fauna and flora's richness, specially for it's birds, that use the area as a migration stopover or wintering site.

The card came with two stamps, one shows the painting "The last supper" by Lucas Cranach the Younger, a german renaissance painter and portraitist. The other one shows Staberhuk's lighthouse, the oldest one in Fehmarn island, built in 1903.

Thank you very much, Renate!

Gerbera and cupcakes

Hello!

Today i want to show you a colorful card that came from the U.S.A, with a big red gerbera and a bunch of yummy cupcakes. I don't use to eat cupcakes often, but from time to time they are always a delicious guilty pleasure ;)

I enjoyed the card as much as the stamps and cupcake stickers that came with it, it was all so sweet and adorable!

An american banjo clock, a lovely christmas ornament and Buzz Lightyear with little green men from Pixar's Toy Story. I'm a huge fan of Pixar's movies, and that stamp was a great surprise!

Thank you very much, Michaela!

Black and white

Hello!

Today i want to show you a card i received from two different postcrossers. One came from Germany, and the other one from the Netherlands.

It's a black and white scene from New York's Grand Central Station, the train station that has more platforms in the world. I've seen it in some movies and it seems an elegant and a very huge place!

Both cards came beautifully stamped. The one from the Netherlands came with three stamps, the first one from St. John's gothic cathedral in Hertogenbosch, the second with Jacob's staff, formerly used in astronomy and navigation to measure angles and nowadays used mainly as a tripod; and the third one from a series of road safety education.

The card from Germany came with two stamps, one of a tagetes flower and the other with an angel bringing good wishes.

Thank you very much, Elonie and Verena!

In it we can see a romantic black and white scene with a couple kissing goodbye at the train station platform. It's a sweet and sad scene at the same time. Miao baby

Hello!

Today i want to show you a card that got me hypnotized by it's tenderness.

It came from Spain, my own country. It's a close up of a baby from Miao ethnic group. Miao's live mainly in southern China mountains, their nationality is recognized by the chinese government. Although they have their own language, nowadays most of them speak chinese as daily language. They live from farming, fishing, gathering and cattle raising. They worship the nature, the ancestors and the spirits.

The stamp prays "Todos con Lorca", meaning "We are all with Lorca". Lorca is a spanish city situated in the province of Murcia. The eleventh of may, 2011, the city was shaken by a 5.1 mw earthquake that caused nine deaths and important damages. The stamps were sent out with the purpose of helping Lorca's people after the catastrophe. The castle you can see in the stamp is a medieval fortress built between IX and XV centuries. It had an important role during the reconquest of Spain and it's considered a Site of Cultural Interest.

Thank you very much, Gabriela!

Meow!

Hello!

Let's begin with all the mail i want to show you with a colorful card of a cute kitty.

It came from Finland, and it shows a playful cat trying to catch a fish. I didn't knew anything about Peter-No-Tail until i got this card. Peter-No-Tail is a fictional cat created by the swedish writer Gösta Knutsson.

The author, inspired by a real cat he knew in his childhood, wrote several books for children telling Peter's adventures. Peter's stories have appeared on the radio, movies and even in an opera for children.

As my dad always says, "You'll never get to bed without knowing one more thing."

The postcard came with this sweet stamp, it's beautiful!

Thank you very much, Katja!

Back to Postcrossing!

Hello!

I'm back to Postcrossing and i hope to stay for good this time :)

It's an awesome experience, i love getting mail, the happiness and the excitement i feel when i pick a new postcard from my mailbox, wishing to see from where it comes, and what does it tell me. I shouldn't have abandoned it. I've already taken pictures of all the mail i got back years ago, there's a great amount of cards and stamps, and i hope you to enjoy them as much as i did!

Today i've received the first postcard since i came back. It comes from Germany, and it shows a beautiful aerial view of Pfahlbau Museum, an archaeological open air museum situated on Lake Constance, in Unteruhldingen.

Prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps have been part of Unesco World Heritage since 2011. They were built from around 5000 to 500 B.C. on the edge of rivers, marshes or lakes. We can find 111 settlements located in different countries (Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland). Archaeological remais have revealed facts about neolithic and bronze age human beings's daily life and their relationship with the environment in the area.

The postcard came with this lovely stamp and a cute butterfly sticker.

Danke Schön, Bettina!
